Mac and Cheese Bites

Mac and cheese is enjoyed by so many people.  It’s an easy, tasty food that almost everyone loves.  What would be better than regular mac and cheese?  The answer is mac and cheese bites.  They are fried balls of macaroni and cheese.  These fried mac and cheese balls are bite sized, making them a great food to bring to a tailgate at a stadium or someone’s house for a game day party.

These bites don’t have more than 10 ingredients, and they aren’t too difficult to make.  The entire recipe makes about 36 bites.  It is recommended to serve the finished bites with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.  The first time I ever had mac and cheese bites they were served with marinara sauce, and I was wary as to whether or not it would taste good together, but it was very delicious.

The list of ingredients needed and the steps to successfully make these delicious bites can be found by clicking the link below:

Giants vs. Cowboys

On Sunday, November 23, the New York Giants hosted the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium.  It was the Sunday Night Football game: the primetime game of the day.  It was a divisional matchup between two teams with one of the biggest rivalries in the league.  The Cowboys have the playoffs in their sights, but the Giants and their fans, wanted to get the win to make it harder for Dallas to make it to the postseason.

The first half of the game was all about the Giants.  They scored 21 points through two quarters and were up 21-10 at halftime.  However, the second half of the game the tables completely turned and it was all about the Cowboys.  They scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, getting on top 24-21 when the fourth quarter started.  It was so close that all fans were on the edge of their seats.  The Giants made it to the endzone and scored a touchdown, taking the lead once again 28-24.  Unfortunately, that was not enough.  Dallas got the ball back with three minutes left in the game, and drove down the field score the go-ahead touchdown, and ultimately winning the game.  The Cowboys advanced to 8-3 and the Giants dropped to 3-8.

Final Score: Cowboys – 31, Giants – 28

The highlight of the game, and possibly the entire season, was the most amazing catch by the Giants’ wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr.  It’s his rookie season, and he made the catch of the year, if not the greatest catch anyone has ever seen.  Watch the play for yourself below.

Holding

One of the most common penalties to get called in the NFL is a holding penalty.  A flag will get thrown for holding if a player is illegally restraining another player who is not in possession of the football.  Most of the time you will see a flag get thrown for holding at least once in a game, but usually much more than that.  It is very common for players on both sides of the ball to get called for this.  Typically, a flag for holding will get thrown if a player grabs the jersey of another player not holding the ball and throws him to the ground when he is not holding the ball.  This penalty is mostly called on the offense when a run blocker grabs or throws a defender to the ground to open up space for the running back, or when a pass blocker grabs onto the defender to prevent him from getting to the quarterback.  This penalty is mostly called on the defense if the defender grabs onto the player opposite him outside of the 5-yard area from the line of scrimmage where he is legally allowed to touch an offensive player.  If the defender touches the opponent outside of the 5-yard area, he will get the penalty called against him.

If a holding penalty is called on the defense, it is a 5 yard penalty and an automatic first down for the offense.  If the holding penalty is called on the offense, it is a 10 yard penalty and whichever down it is gets replayed.

The First Super Bowl

The NFL’s First World Championship game was played on January 15, 1967.  The game took place in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Los Angels, California.  The teams that played were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers.  The Packers were favorited to win by 14 points.  Attendance at the game totaled over 60,000.

Going into the game, the Chiefs had a record of 11-2-1 and the Packers had a record of 12-2.  The Packers got ahead early, scoring 7 points in the first quarter.  By halftime, the Packers had scored 7 more points and the Chiefs had scored 10 points.  The score at the end of the second quarter was 14-10 with the Packers on top.

After halftime, it was all about the Packers for the rest of the game, with them scoring 21 unanswered points.  They scored 14 more of those points in the third quarter.  In the fourth quarter, they scored 7 more.  The game ended and the Packers won 35-10, becoming the first ever NFL Champions.  Green Bay’s quarterback, Bart Starr, was named MVP.  He completed 16 out of 23 passes for 251 yards, and threw one touchdown and one interception.

The trophy that all Super Bowl champions get now is known as the Vince Lombardi Trophy.  It is named after the Green Bay Packers’ coach, Vince Lombardi, who led them to win the first two Super Bowls.

Cauliflower “Bread”sticks

When going to a tailgate, most people bring foods that wouldn’t be considered healthy.  However there are many people who like to stick with eating only healthy alternatives to the foods that are not good for you.  One snack that would be perfect as a healthy treat for a tailgate or a game day party are cauliflower breadsticks.

This snack can be made in place of actual breadsticks.  There are less than 10 ingredients to make the cauliflower sticks.  The last thing you need is marinara sauce for dipping.  Cheesey breadsticks are loved by many, but these cauliflower sticks are a delicious, healthy alternative that taste just as good.  With cheese, one breadstick has only 53 calories; it can’t get much better than that!

Hottie of the Week: Cam Newton

Cam Newton is the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers.  He was picked by the Panthers in the 2011 NFL draft.  He is the only player to win the Heisman Trophy, win a national championship, and get picked first overall in the NFL draft in the same year.

Newton started his career at the beginning of the 2011 season.  He became the first rookie to throw for 400 yards in his first game, and he ended up throwing for over 4,000 yards total by the end of his rookie season.  He has been the starting quarterback for the Panthers since they drafted him.  He has helped the team improve greatly, and has made the ProBowl twice since entering the NFL.

As the ladies will notice, he has a smile that makes him look like one of the friendliest guys you’d ever see.
